A driver was arrested after being caught by police driving at more than 160 km/h on a highway. According to authorities, he claimed he was late for a wedding.

Christopher Jones, 29, was caught driving at 160 km/h on Interstate I-95 in Brevard County, Florida (USA), on the morning of last Saturday (2), while Officer Caleb Sanchez was conducting speed enforcement.

Sanchez pulled Jones over and arrested him, after which he was taken to the Brevard County Jail. After being arrested, he claimed he was speeding because he was late for a wedding.

Jones was charged with operating a vehicle at more than 160 km/h, a misdemeanor that carries up to 30 days in jail, US$ 500 in fines and, potentially, a suspension of his Florida driver’s license.

“Christopher Jones was dressed to impress, as he was on his way to a wedding and, of course, he was late!”, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said in a post on Instagram.

“Great job by Officer Sanchez for helping keep Brevard County safe. See you next time (because we know there will be another one) on Super Speeder Saturday!”, the department also said in the post’s caption.
